🥖 🥖 Terms of Service: The "Quick Crust" Version (TL;DR)

Bake at your own risk: Sourdough is a science experiment. We provide the tools, but you are responsible for food safety, hygiene, and not burning your kitchen down.

No "Perfect Loaf" Guarantee: If your dough doesn't rise, your starter dies, or your bread tastes like a brick—we’re sorry, but that’s on you (and biology).

Don't sue us: By using this app, you agree that if something goes wrong, the most we owe you is the amount you’ve paid us (or $10).

No Courtrooms: You agree to settle any major beef through arbitration, not by taking us to court or joining a class-action lawsuit.

It’s our app: Don't try to hack us, steal our code, or use our brand to sell your own "miracle starter."

1. NO WARRANTIES (The "It's Not Our Fault" Clause)

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOURMATE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, THAT YOUR DOUGH WILL RISE, OR THAT THE RESULTS OF FOLLOWING ANY RECIPE OR TIMER WILL BE EDIBLE OR SAFE. BAKING IS A BIOLOGICAL PROCESS; RESULTS VARY BASED ON HUMIDITY, TEMPERATURE, AND EQUIPMENT.

2. HEALTH & SAFETY WARNING

Important: You are solely responsible for food safety.

  • Sourdough involves live bacteria and wild yeast. Improper handling, storage, or fermentation temperatures can lead to foodborne illness (e.g., mold, harmful bacteria).
  • Any information provided in the app regarding "safe" temperatures or "done-ness" is for educational purposes only.
  • Always consult local health guidelines (like the FDA) before consuming fermented products. If it looks, smells, or tastes "off"—throw it out.

3. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY (The "Wallet Protector")

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SOURMATE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: FOOD POISONING, KITCHEN FIRES, DAMAGED OVENS, OR THE EMOTIONAL DISTRESS OF A DEAD STARTER. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS UNDER THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SERVICE IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS (OR $10.00, WHICHEVER IS GREATER).

4. BINDING ARBITRATION

By using this app, you agree that any dispute will be settled through binding arbitration rather than in a jury trial or a class-action lawsuit. You are waiving your right to go to court.

5. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

By using this app, you voluntarily assume all risks related to food preparation and consumption. You agree that Sourmate is a software tool, not a professional culinary advisor.
